March 30, 2007
Close on the heels of KT Freetel, Korea's SK Telecom announced it has completed its HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) network across the nation, covering 99% of the population, and has commenced nationwide service two months earlier than scheduled. Already having invested 1.8 trillion Won (US$1.9 billion; US$1 = 940.7 Won) in the network, SK Telecom has earmarked an additional 610 billion Won (US$648.4 million) for 2007. Also, SK Telecom is scheduled to launch three new HSDPA phones in May and plans to expand the product line to 20 models by year-end.
